KUALA LUMPUR – The Selangor government’s Selangkah Covid-19 contact-tracing app is now integrated system-wide to facilitate rapid screenings via its Community Screening Portal.

In a statement yesterday, Selangkah Ventures Sdn Bhd chairman Dr Muaz Omar said this allows close contacts and individuals to be swiftly screened and tested.

“The Selangkah Community Screening Portal provides a system-wide integration between contact tracing, rapid testing and diagnosis, reporting as well as monitoring that are currently fragmented.

“We hope to see that our best practice is replicated nationwide, so we can together navigate this pandemic without leaving anyone behind.”

The management said the integration is aimed at reducing contact-tracing backlog “currently weighing down the healthcare system”.

The Selangor government deployed the system last Wednesday in Meru, Klang, where it conducted targeted screening for residents.

With the help of community leaders, such as village heads and state assemblymen, residents had pre-registered via the portal a day prior to increase workflow efficiency, as many frontliners donned personal protective equipment, limiting their ability to register participants.

In a tweet, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said 69% of participants had registered.

“This shows that digitalisation helps expedite contact tracing to curb the spread of the virus.”

Muaz said the team screened 44.2% of the targeted population within five hours, exceeding the initial 10% target, with results available in 24 hours.

The results of the screenings were shared with the Health Ministry through its centralised Public Health Laboratory Test Result System (Simka) and e-notification portal.
